A Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience: Steinbrenner Orchestra at Carnegie Hall
In 2025, the Steinbrenner High School Orchestra had the extraordinary honor of performing at Carnegie Hall—one of the most iconic and revered stages in the world of music. This unforgettable journey was not just a performance opportunity; it was the culmination of years of dedication, artistry, and community support.
From the moment we arrived in New York City, the experience was nothing short of magical. Through Harmony Tours, our students explored the city’s rich musical and cultural landscape. The highlight of our educational journey was an inspiring and transformative clinic with conductor Helen Cha-Pyo, whose guidance and energy challenged our students to elevate their musical expression and technique.
The pinnacle of the trip came as our orchestra stepped onto the stage of Carnegie Hall. Surrounded by the echoes of musical legends, our students made history of their own—sharing a message of sincerity and strength through the world premiere of “I Would Be True”, a powerful and heartfelt piece composed specifically for us by Kirt Mosier. To debut this work, dedicated the Steinbrenner High School Orchestra and Byrdie L. Jackson, in such a prestigious venue was both humbling and exhilarating.
Beyond the stage, the memories we created—walking through Times Square, bonding over meals, late-night laughs, and exploring the arts together—will stay with our students for a lifetime. It was more than a trip; it was a defining moment in our program’s legacy.
This experience reinforced what we’ve always known: music is more than notes on a page—it's about connection, growth, and creating something unforgettable together.
We look forward to future travels as an orchestra!
